Enameled aluminum wire is aluminum wire coated with a very thin layer of insulation. It is used to make transformers, inductors, motors, speakers, hard drive actuators, electromagnets, and other applications that require tightly insulated coils.
In some cases, such as welding or measuring film thickness, it is necessary to remove the insulation layer on the enameled aluminum wire.
Physical stripping
Using an electric paint stripping tool will cause little damage to the surface of the enameled aluminum wire, no high temperature is required, no oxide film will form on the aluminum surface, and the wire will not become brittle.
Chemical stripping
For enameled copper wire with temperature grades of 130 (B), 155 (F), and 180 (H), a special enameled paint stripping agent can be used for stripping. This method causes little damage to the aluminum of the enameled aluminum wire, but it is generally not effective for high-temperature wires, so it is not suitable for high-temperature wires.
Thermal stripping
The thermal wire stripping method usually uses a flame. Lay the wire vertically and straighten the end. After clamping the uninsulated part with pliers, heat the wire with an alcohol lamp to burn off the paint film. After cooling, gently wipe it with fine gauze. Although it is very efficient, improper operation may cause burns or damage to the wire.
Abrasive Stripping
Abrasive materials such as sandpaper can effectively remove the insulation of enameled aluminum wire without damaging the aluminum underneath. This method requires attention to detail and gentle movements to avoid compromising the integrity of the wire. While it works well for thicker wires, it may not be the best choice for very thin wires.
Ultrasonic Stripping
For complex and precise stripping needs, the paint coating on aluminum wire can be removed using ultrasonic cleaning equipment. Ultrasonic waves effectively penetrate and remove the enameled insulation without damaging the aluminum wire. This method is suitable for applications where precision is critical.
Laser Stripping
Laser stripping is a precise wire stripping method that uses laser energy to remove the enameled insulation without damaging the metal conductor. The polymer coating absorbs light waves, causing atoms to be stripped from the surface of the wire. At the same time, the light reflects from the conductor, generating a small amount of heat that causes the insulation to "cold" evaporate.
For small diameter wires, UV laser technology uses short wavelength UV light and nanosecond pulses to instantly evaporate the enameled insulation, maintaining a clean metal surface for easy connection.
